Okay, Could you make a Perception Roll?...
...
(Silence)
Raoul 'Violence' Borges,
To his Tabletop Players,
While playing Dragonlance AD&D.
Didn't ever asked yourself why your warrior can never walk in
silence? Why your mage could never learn to use a sword, and why
your thief could never specialize in any weapon?
Why, when so much rule systems for Role-Playing Games work
a lot in term of proficiencies, T.S.R. creators kept a system
that, even if it had been completed, still is arachaic and
sometimes too much rigid?
I believe it was the pressure of the players, that wanted
a system thta remained compatible with the old one. What should
have been a complete re-creation was putting some order in
the library... And the addition of new rules only helped to
add even more complexity to the system...
T.S.R. even tried something new with DragonLance (I don't like
it because it is too much simplified, and because the Rules
state that you can't use this or this when your ability isn't
high enough... Same error, again...).
Here are propositions, compatible to every edition of D&D,
that could, I hope, remedy to these problems.
The differences are huge. In the creation and in the evolution
of characters. But in the middle of the campaign, Rules are
still the same...
You will find here home rules we created for the AD&D Rule
System. Feel free to copy and use them as you need, as long as
you don't make money with it. Should you use the material to
your own creations, be it on paper or on the web, please mention
the names of the authors, our association, and of course, the
name of the company who was the origin of it all: T.S.R..
