Background:
Nefer was a priestess of Bastet. Despite the fact that she wasn't kinfolk, her pale skin and her natural sensuality helped her raise herself in the temple's hierarchy. Still, unlike most priestess, she never accepted the love of any one. She was searching for something she couldn't define. The others were too dull to her own mind.
Her life changed when Bastet herself appeared to her: The dark-skinned Godess told her to start a quest where she was to find her own Darkness, and defeat it. Instead, she found Set's tomb. The Antediluvian awakened to see the most beautiful mortal he had seen in all life. Wondering what to do with her, they talked, and Set slowly forgot about Nephtys, and soon became entranced by this mysterious mortal, whose beauty seemed to stir his blood in ways he thought to have forgotten with his own mortality.
Nefer was charmed by the red-haired, pale young man before her. his charisma was such she could see the power burning within his heart, and his natural violence and passion immediately charmed her. She mentally thanked Bastet to have lead her to the man she had waited for all her life.
She was Nefer, she said, a gift from Bastet. Needless to say, the two fell in love with such passion Set almost killed the virgin.
Set asked in urgence the right to Embrace Nefer. Fearing refusal, Set asked Khentamentiu what was the real reason behind Horus choosing Neith. Khentamentiu simply refused, as the pact of Maat was clear: Only people with the spark of Neter, the Divinity, could join the Gods. But when he saw her, her almost supernatural beauty, even on the verge of death, and the aura of of the power she unknowingly had hidden deep in her soul, he couldn't deny her divinity: For she could only be the avatar of a godess...
Thus the dying Nefer and unliving Set made love for the second time. While Nefer knew she was dying, she felt her life had been completed. She was surprised to drinking the Nectar of the Gods.
Few years after her Embrace, Nefer was alone, as Set once more entered Torpor. Khentamentiu tried to teach her the basis of Maat, but she never was an adept pupil. Then Horus awakened. When he learnt the apparent reason behind the Embrace of Nefer, he was so outraged by the fact his father's Vitae had been used for such undeserving purpose he decided to kill her.
When he entered her chambers, he surprised her while she was undressing. Despite her condition, her cheeks turned red when she saw the one-eyed god wearing a sword looking her nudity. She covered herself with her dress, her gaze both combining shyness, fear and awe. Horus, in the other hand, almost let the sword fall on the floor when he saw the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Neith was already almost nothing in his memory, her androgyn silhouette shadowed by this youthful beauty.
Horus turned away, in shame. Khentamnetiu never liked the fact it seemed every emotion in her face disappeared --if only for a second-- to let appear maliciousness. But he couldn't swear he effectively saw this.
''Let it be known'', she said, ''that I am in debt to Horus, who saw in me enough to justify my existence. Now and forever, Horus will always be accepted as my friend, and I will protect him as a Temple would to his God. I am Hathor, the Temple of Horus''.
Set learnt about the incident, and Nefer told him Horus had accepted her as one of them. Khentamentiu recognized he had been wrong, as she contributed to the peace between the two Gods of Egypt. Little did he know that, if Hathor was the official mate of Set, she became Horus' secret lover.
Destiny
Hathor is searching for a Childer. She knows Set (or Horus) will never accept the embrace of a male beauty, so she will Embrace Bes, a dwarf who is as ugly as he is full of joy, and is as small as his talent in music, dance and poetry is great.
What she doesn't know is her true name. Given to her by a Seer, Apep himself is interested in her soul. For now, she mix sincere caring and devious intrigues, but soon enough, her dark side will be fully born, as she will study an ''Anti-Maat'' Discipline.
In the Middle Empire, with the benediction of both Horus and Set, she will be Regent of Egypt. While she will lose her title with the fall of the administration, she will remain a greater power in the New Empire era.
Hathor will be the inspiration for Nefertiti, Nefertari or even Cleopatra's appearance, and these Queen will pray for her to keep their beauty. She will be assimilated with Isis, and later with Aphrodite and Venus. Still, her cult will disappear with the fall of Egyptian Empire.
It is said that either her of Selkis will be, by then, far from Egypt, creating a new Discipline among her Ananasi allies. A new Bloodline, the Black Widows, will be born.
Appearance:
| Age: | ~500 | Hair: | Black | Height: | 1m57 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apparent Age: | ~17 | Eyes: | Blue-Green | Weight: | 48Kg |
| Date of Birth: | ~3500 BC | Race: | Egyptian | Sex: | Female |
| RIP: | ~3500 BC | Nationality: | Egyptian | Symbol | Cow or woman with the solar disk between two horns |
Even then, few women could compare to Hathor's beauty, and only some supernatural creature could be considered more bautiful. Hathor has a pale skin, long jet black hair, and perfect features. Her lips are naturally red, and surprisingly for her condition, she appears normal, because she never lost her mortal appearance, and because she rarely feeds from Sekhem, prefering a ritualized Kiss.
She usually wears long straight and close-fitting dress, enhancing her feminine silhouette both by its cut than by its semi-transparency. As one of the creatresses of the egyptian fashion, her dresses and jewelery will always be ahead of the time. She wears her perfect breasts nude, as a reminder of her being the symbol of fertility... and love.
Role Playing:
If the other Childer of Set are usually cold and distant, this one is all the contrary. Her beauty is clearly supernatural, and her natural sensuality makes her even more desirable. She walks in a very feline-like way, inherited by her teachings as a Priestess of Bastet, and every gesture is seduction.
But she has a dark side. Cunning, loving the intrigue, she is as callous as she can appear lovely. Despite the fact she is not responsible for Egypt's fall of grace, she will participate gladly to it. In these moment, her smile have a touch of maliviousness that can freeze the blood of most mortals.
Notes:
Hathor is still working on her Discipline. Her first Childe won't be able to learn it before 2500 BC, but then will learn it as a Clan Discipline. By then, Hathor's beauty will become legendary, as the cruelty that sometimes moves her soul.
For those interested, Hathor is secretly creating a new Discipline which should, instead of suppressing the Beast, give it enough intelligence for it to lose its instincts. While at first this will seem to be a success, the Sekhmet (the name of her Dark Side, and by extension, the name by which the Egyptian gods call the Frenzy), also known as ''Isefet'' (whose signification is ''anti-maat'') will only lose its instinctive cruelty to learn the most pure evil. The Sekhmet/Isefet, called in the 20th Century the Furie Discipline, is described in the Bloodlinebook: Black Widow.
Actual Aim:
To finish the Neferys Discipline. To learn more about the Beast.
Rumours:
None.
