Meryt-Pneter
The Gods' Beloved

Most believe this bloodline is a mistake: Hathor, the Founder, have been Embraced because she succeeded in charming Set, by her beauty and arts of seduction. Still, her Embrace was accepted. Surprisingly, the Bloodline, while superficial at first sight, have a deep philosphical background: Life is to be lived on, and Maat is only the aim for everyone to reach happiness. Most among the Meryt-Pneter will be artists, who will design both the hieroglyphs' official form or the temples' construction. Others will do nothing but live among their followers, revelling in pleasures. It is believed this Bloodline founded the Path of Ecstasy to replace Humanity, and that few among them will be included in the Followers of Set Clan.
Appearance:
Most of them are beautiful females, while the males' are either beautiful or monstruous. They are the fashion of Egypt, designing new dresses or new jewelery, and thus, combined with the Neferys Disciplines, are the most beautiful creatures in the Two-Lands, if not in Earth.
Note that the Meryt-Pneter usually drink blood instead of feeding from Sekhem. The sensation is too much to be discarded so easily. They view it as the summum of sensuality, and develop complex rituals around it.
Haven:
They tend to live in Temples of Hathor, or even among the bubastis tribes. A few will also haunt the palaces of Nomarcs or even Pharao's.
Background:
Most of them are either priests of Hathor, artists or beautiful mortals. More than 80% are women.
Character Creation:
Social Attributes are primary, as are Talents. The secondary Attributes are usually Mental (or even physical for men chosen for their appearance). Artists tend to have Skills as either Primary or Secondary Abilities.
Disciplines:
Neferys, Obfuscate, Presence.
Weaknesses:
Like the other Childer of Set, the Meryt-Pneter's presence interfere somewhat with their social activity. But their mastery of Neferys somewhat changed its nature. The Peryt-Pneter have a malus of 2 to the difficulty of any Social roll but those involving Appearance and or Seduction.
Organisation:
There is no organization of the Bloodline. Their only recognized leader is their Founder.
Stereotypes:
Bal-Noure: Why they are less self-important than their Ouro-Sen sisters, They can be boring.
Bast-Hemet: Our sisters. We have much in common. Their sensuality is charming.
Hat-Maat: Boring incarnate. If we heard them, the Two-Lands would be nothing but Tombs and Obelisks. Maat is interesting, but their suppression of the emotions is a mistake: Emotion is what they call Humanity. They can't suppress one while keeping the other despite what they claim.
Hekau-Nebet: they keep to themselves and are too much serious.
Ouro-Sen: They are our protectors. As any military thing, they are needed, but when they have nothing to do, they can make your unlife miserable with their petty talks
Khui-Amon: Well... Somone hiding so much must have some repressed phantasm that makes his unlife miserable... Or prepare something we would not like.
Anoup: Like the Ouro-Sen and the Bal-Noure. Their rituals about Death are frightening.
Msoh-Sobek: Primitive brutes.
Nerhib Pehrt: Our kindred. They like their life as much as we do.
Hon-Aton: Fanatics. Not only their beliefs are stupid, but their intolerance makes them try to convert to their boring and cold viewpoints.
Isis-Tiaou: While they claim otherwise, they work for the Followers of Horus. It is good the Hekau-Nebet and the Isis-Tiaou balance each other.
Shemsu-Heru: It is said Hathor seduced Horus himself when he came to destroy her, outraged by Set's choice. It's not surprising. while they can appear as cold as the vampires, their physical body is alive enough to physically answer to our charms. too bad their blood is so distateful.
Destiny:
Hathor will influence most of Egypt's art, and her Bloodline will slowly spread. The appex of their power will be in the reign of Amenhotep III, Pharao of the 18th Dynasty. But the Hon-Aton will stop the Ages of Dreams.
Behind every woman of power in Ancient Egypt, either Neith or Hathor's influence can be seen. While Sechat protected personnaly Neith-Iqueret, Iah-Hotep, Hatshepsout, Tiyi, Nefertiti and Nefertari had the discret support of Hathor. Other Pharao will never lose their respect abnout her because of her legendary dark side, also called ''Sekhment''. Sethi will even be sculpted feeding from her breast in his tomb.
Quote:
Don't be so nervous... By hiding your emotions deep within yourself, you create such situations where you lose all the control of them should they go through the cold artificial walls of discipline you built to protect you...
Ways of the Meryt-Pneter:
Strength and Influence:
While Hathor will be considered Queen of Egypt in the Middle Kingdom Era, the Bloodline will have his greatest influence in the New Kingdom. Large monuments, temples and tombs will be constructed to honor Hathor, and most Queens will either become Priestess of Hathor, or either revere her as their secondary Godess.
Note that Bes, despite his appearance, has a great influence within the prostitue milieu, and will also be considered the protector of the pregnant women and the children. Strangely, while the other Childer of Set will be destroyed, the influence of Bes will increase even in the Ptolemaic Era.
The Divine Reverers, an order of female priestess revering Amon, will slowly decrease the influence of the Bloodline, but won't succeed until his destruction
Organization and Priesthood:
Beside the formal priesthood of Hathor, there is no organization, but small cults centered around each lesser God. Bes, a family God, will see his influence increase in the Ptolemaic years, giving him an equal status with the other greater gods.
Current Pratices:
The Priesthood have different rituals, both needing discipline and willpower, to learn control, and needing the freeing of one's emotions, to learn to dam them and use them.
Unlike some other cults, the Cults of Hathor don't ask for sexual/sensual abstinence, but instead have elaborate ritual to ensure the pleasure and fertitily (if desired) of such unions. Not that they forbid adultery, while supporting open sexuality among the youth.
Present Concern:
They have no concern but their own studies of art and sensuality.
Still, Hathor sometimes seems animated by other concerns. It is whipered she have dark desires to accomplish.
Sub-Clans:
There is no real sub-Clan among the Meryt-Pneter.

Bes; 5th Generation.
